25 Hair loss facts

If hair loss is a problem for you, one of the best ways of finding something that works for you is to research it! Get informed about the pros and cons of the methods that actually do work and understand how each method intends to help you.

  1. Hair loss or thinning hair is not caused by stress.
  2. Hair loss is not caused by poor circulation at your hair follicles.
  3. Hair loss is also not caused by the excessive use of wearing hats.
  4. Hair loss is not caused by the build up of dirt and oils on your scalp!
  5. The hair regrowth process in men is affected by the binding of the DHT hormone and androgen receptors. An increase in binding causes “androgenetic alopecia” and results in hair loss.
  6. There are 5 types of hair loss treatments that work for men – the use of growth stimulants, DHT inhibitors, anti-inflammatories, anti-androgens and SOD’S.
  7. Many men, but not all, experience inflammation, tingling, itching or redness on the scalp during the process of hair loss.
  8. Hair loss for many women can be reversible and there is a hair loss remedy for it.
  9. With female androgenetic alopecia, women experience a thinning of the hair as well as a decrease in hair density, but they rarely go bald.
  10. Female androgenetic alopecia is often hormone related. It can be caused by birth control pills, an overactive thyroid and the natural changes of the pre – and early post-menopausal period.
  11. The post-partum period may result in hair “shedding” since hair follicles may enter into the resting phase of the hair growth process.
  12. Your diet can impact your hair loss condition. Crash dieting and the chronic use of alcohol can cause hair loss.
  13. An iron and zinc deficiency can also induce hair loss. For these cases, the hair loss remedy may be as simple as taking a supplement.
  14. Once proper nutrition for the body is re-established, the hair usually grows back.
  15. The medications you’re taking might cause hair loss as a side effect.
  16. Hair loss can also be a result of systemic illness such as Chron’s disease.
  17. Female alopecia areata is a common condition where, in extreme cases, handfuls of hair can be lost simply by touching the scalp.
  18. Tinea capitis is as children’s hair loss condition resulting from a fungal infection of the hair follicles.
  19. Untreated tinea capitis can lead to scarring of the scalp resulting in permanent hair loss.
  20. Children’s alopecia areata is not contagious. With this condition, the nails may also be affected.
  21. 80% of children’s alopecia areata sufferers experience hair regrowth within one year.
  22. Children’s traction alopecia is particularly common for girls since their hair is very fragile at this young age. Aggressive hair styling and chemical treatments can also cause hair loss in this condition.
  23. Fever can affect the hair regrowth and rest periods. Called telogen effluvium, this condition can occur months after a serious illness that included fever.
  24. There are many different grafts used in hair transplant treatments.
  25. Hair replacement therapies can include hair grafts and non-surgical hair grafts into the existing hair.
