Micro Grafting
Hair Micro Grafting
Micro grafting hair is a minor surgery which is done under local anesthesia. The procedure is really simple; it’s a matter of redistributing existing hair from the back of the head to the front, the top and on the bald patch to finally cover all balding areas. The hair is found in a given area, that’s to say on the crown, is programmed never to fall out. Therefore, at the time we redistribute them onto the bald spot; they retain their genetic code and cannot suffer any new bald annoyances. “It’s not a question of bad grounds versus good grounds but a matter of good bulbs versus bad bulbs.”
Micro grafting and mini grafting versus Awl
In the 1980’s, capillus grafting consisted of transplanting large groups of hair, better known as the name “punch” at the same spot to end with a little unnatural result. In fact, the “punch” gave an impression of having the hair of a doll or layers of onions rather than a natural aspect.
Micro grafting, was developed during the 1990’s and consisted of transplanting only 1 or 2 hair per graft. This technique was primarily used for the frontal region, to recreate a natural hair line. To cover the bald spot on top, the most commonly used technique is mini grafting and consists of transplanting 3 to 4 hairs per graft to provide a larger volume. In the end, from now on exists a method called follicle micro grafting.
Follicle Micro Grafting
The follicle micro grafting principle follows that of regular micro grafting, while always respecting the follicle units of the hair. These are a group of 2, 3 or 4 hairs that grow through the same pore. These follicular units are distinctive anatomical entities, but each hair that is found at the inside of the unit provides its own follicle. Therefore, in order to obtain the largest possible volume, it is important to respect these units when cutting hair.
